Almost Home

Almost Home Makes
Homeownership Possible

The goal of the Almost Home program is to help people prepare and become eligible for Chippewa Valley Habitat’s Homebuyer program. We can provide guidance for prospective homeowners who may not currently meet our criteria, have too low of income or too much debt.

Our Almost Home case managers prepare buyers for homeownership with financial education, guidance and resources to qualify to buy a home through Chippewa Valley Habitat.

Each year we partner with nearly 100 families to give them the extra boost they need to become successful homeowners. Services are also provided to existing Chippewa Valley Habitat homebuyer individuals and families who find themselves behind on their mortgage, or who are facing a challenge to pay their monthly mortgage due to a change in their financial situation.

The Benefits of the Almost Home Program

The Almost Home team addresses the needs of prospective homeowners who struggle financially to buy or keep their homes. Our ultimate goal is to build long-term security for their family. Future homebuyers learn how to save for a home even with a low income.

Every situation is as unique as each family we serve. Our Almost Home case managers stand beside the homeowner before and after they’ve achieved their goal of homeownership.

This takes commitment, focus and work from future homeowners, but they aren’t doing it alone. We have HUD-certified housing counselors and Qualified Loan Originators on staff to guide families toward applying for Chippewa Valley Habitat’s Homebuyer program.

“Nikki gave me hope for my financial situation. She spent many hours helping me, and even made calls to my student loan borrowers and utility company to get on budget billing.

Little by little, I paid everything until I became 100% debt free. Today I have good credit and I get to live free from the worry of wage garnishing and overwhelming debt.”
