A Global Impact

Habitat VolunteerChippewa Valley Habitat for Humanity envisions a world where everyone has a decent place to live. Habitat works towards this mission through tithing and global village trips.

Global Village Program

Global Village is a transformative weeklong international volunteer experience with opportunities across five continents. Volunteer groups support Habitat’s vision where everyone has a decent place to live by building or improving homes in partnership with local communities.

  • Teamwork: Global Village groups usually consist of up to 16 individuals led by a team leader and work alongside local communities.
  • Program Donation: Global Village volunteers contribute a donation ranging from $1,625 - $2,700 that supports Habitat’s housing programs as well as their own on-site accommodations, meals and ground transportation.
  • Locally Driven: Local communities and Habitat collaboratively decide on project goals and solutions that address a specific local housing need.
  • Lasting Change: Projects are designed around larger Habitat initiatives, so the work does not stop when volunteers leave. Volunteers will also learn to advocate for housing policy on the macro scale where work is much needed.

Global Village Volunteering

Staff, volunteers and community members volunteer abroad to build decent, affordable shelter alongside members of the local community. During this “volunteer vacation” team members learn about sub-standard housing, community development challenges and Habitat’s mission to help eradicate them.
